About Sunflower Counselling ~
I have always been passionate about mental health. In 2025, my husband was diagnosed with kidney disease. This diagnosis included renal failure. This situation shifted my role from a healthcare counselor to a patient and family member. This humbling experience highlighted the lack of understanding for those on similar journeys. I saw an opportunity to offer Social Work support along with empathetic listening to those facing significant life changes. Illness affects the entire family. Whether you have Fibromyalgia or are a caregiver experiencing burnout, I understand and I am here to support you. This is called Sunflower Counselling because, sometimes, the sun disappears in life. However, the sunflower will always turn to look for the sunshine each new day. I believe that there is always hope for tomorrow but it is important to acknowledge that life simply sucks sometimes.
A client once told me she comes to counseling to use her friend credit wisely. My space is a place of nonjudgmental warmth where you can be authentically yourself. If life sucks and you need to drop the F-Bomb – so be it. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling seen, heard, and not alone.
Our first appointment will be an intake appointment. I will ask you some questions to get to know you. Together, we will develop a plan for our time. If you find that you do not feel a connection with me – feel free to cancel me! I rather you connected with your counselor, and I can provide some local resources for you to explore.
